Borderlands 4 Developer Reveals Insights on New Siren Character, Vex

The latest insights from the Borderlands 4 design team detail the unique attributes of Vex, the game's newest dark Siren character.

In the latest reveal for Borderlands 4, the developers offered fans a peek into the design decisions for Vex, the new playable dark Siren, which is the first Vault Hunter crafted specifically for this installment.

Unique Attributes of Vex

Vex’s action skills not only alter the appearance of her tattoos but also include corrosive weapon effects and the ability to summon Phase Pets. Her distinctive dark outfit and capabilities to conjure various companions to assist her during gameplay set her apart from other characters like Amon the Forge Knight and Harlowe the Gravitar.

Furthermore, Vex represents the newest addition to the Borderlands series’ lineup of Sirens, contributing to the ongoing legacy such characters uphold in the franchise.

Recent insights shared in the Borderlands 4 art team discussion reflected on Vex’s weapon design transformations through her abilities, including a Tediore weapon illustrating these changes with color shifts to green and different elemental powers.

Davenport indicated that the color schemes used for Vex’s abilities are mirrored in her tattoos, while Lyons noted that Vex’s dark and edgy aesthetic is countered by vibrant colors in her skills, contributing to a rich design philosophy at play in the game. These design elements are expected to enhance gameplay dynamics for both solo and co-op modes as players engage with her unique abilities.

As players anticipate the upcoming release, it remains to be seen how many will opt to play as Vex in Borderlands 4.
