Neon Giant Teases Ambitious New Game Following The Ascent's Success
The developers behind The Ascent are working on a new first-person game that emphasizes player creativity.
Neon Giant, the studio known for The Ascent, has revealed that it is currently working on a new project, which they describe as “ludicrously ambitious”.
In a conversation, Creative Director and co-founder Arcade Berg shared insights about their upcoming game, which will be first-person and emphasize “player agency and creativity.” While details remain scarce, a few screenshots hint at a unique world filled with retro technology.
Following The Ascent’s success, Berg noted that the studio had various offers from investors but opted to maintain a small team for creative freedom, stating, “We didn’t start a studio to run a studio; we started [Neon Giant] to create games in a specific way.”
Neon Giant, comprised of just over 20 people, aims to remain independent despite being acquired by South Korean publisher Krafton. The founders are committed to creative autonomy, ensuring that the studio remains a place where every team member helps shape the vision of their games.
Berg suggested that the new title is poised to be the kind of game that many developers dream of working on, likely leaning towards the immersive sim genre. Fans can soon expect more information from the Swedish developer in the near future.
