In Marvel Rivals, encountering bots is becoming increasingly common after players have a streak of defeats. Several players noted that they were unexpectedly matched against bots that utilize the names of their friends. This practice is raising eyebrows and frustration among the community.
“Taking people’s account names for bots isn’t right,” Maleficent_Roll3450 states. “I was in a player vs AI match, and someone from my friend list was also in the match. I wondered why they were ignoring me as they hadn’t been online in a while.”
After the match, it turned out that it was a bot all along, and the account hadn’t been active for months. This misuse of usernames can lead to disappointment among players, expecting interactions that turn out to be non-existent.
Players feel that if bot representation continues to disrupt genuine encounters, it undermines the integrity of player vs AI mode, fundamentally designed to offer an authentic gaming experience. Other games, like Forza and Fortnite, have also been known to use this tactic, but that does not absolve Marvel Rivals of criticism for following suit.
In summary, while players face the challenge of adapting to a gaming landscape interspersed with bots, they hope for a more streamlined and honest gaming experience in future updates.
