Moon Studios Achieves Full Independence After Acquiring Rights to 'No Rest for the Wicked'

Moon Studios has become fully independent after acquiring the rights to its game 'No Rest for the Wicked' from Take-Two Interactive.

Moon Studios has announced that it has secured the full rights to its game, No Rest for the Wicked, thereby allowing it to operate independently from Take-Two Interactive. This decision comes after Take-Two previously stated that it would support the game directly after selling its Private Division label in 2024, but plans have since shifted.

The transition began in May 2024 when it was revealed that Take-Two was contemplating either selling or closing its Private Division publishing label. Later, in November of that year, it sold the division to private equity firm Haveli Investments, which recruited former Annapurna Interactive staff to manage the label. Notably, the sale excluded No Rest for the Wicked.

According to Moon Studios’ Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol in a video announcement, “Take-Two decided to sell off Private Division, which was unexpected news for us. After some deliberation, we saw an opportunity and negotiated to reacquire the publishing rights for No Rest for the Wicked. This legal process was lengthy, and we couldn’t disclose much during its progression. But today, we’re excited to confirm that Moon Studios is now fully independent.”

Mahler and Korol further expressed that this change will instill greater confidence among players in their vision for the game, emphasizing, “We’re free to develop No Rest for the Wicked exactly how we want, without needing to ever go silent again.”.

The studio plans to roll out The Breach, the largest content update for the game, on April 30, which promises to significantly enlarge the game’s world and introduce vast new content.
