Dead Space Creator Expresses Desire to Develop an Alien Game
Glen Schofield, creator of Dead Space, would love to make a game in the Alien universe, provided he has full creative control.
Dead Space, a monumental name in the realm of sci-fi horror, owes a significant part of its inspiration to the iconic Alien film series. Its creator, Glen Schofield, expressed an eagerness to dive into the Alien universe for game development. He mentioned, “If I were to take on a license, which I really don’t want to do; I like making my own games. If someone offered me the Alien license, I could show you maybe 100 different aliens I’ve designed in Midjourney over the last two years.”
Schofield emphasizes that he would not want to pursue such a project without complete creative control, stating, “I have to own the creative, that’s not even negotiable. I won’t make a great game unless it’s mine.” The universe of Alien continues to expand with new projects, and Schofield’s enthusiasm hints at the significant bright prospects for fans of both franchises.
The game industry, however, has been facing numerous challenges lately. Schofield shared insights about his struggles in securing funding for his upcoming pursuits and noted the shifting attitudes of publishers, making them more risk-averse. Despite the obstacles, he remains passionate about creating and has been active in developing new ideas with his daughter, Nicole Schofield.
