Dreamhaven Faces Job Cuts as Financial Strain Emerges
Mike Morhaime, co-founder of Blizzard, confirms layoffs at Dreamhaven due to financial challenges.
Dreamhaven, the company launched by Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime in 2020, is experiencing layoffs among its employees, especially in the publishing group. Morhaime remarked that the company’s monthly expenses are outpacing revenue.
“These choices are never easy—they affect talented colleagues who have played a key role in building Dreamhaven’s foundation and supporting what has been an eventful year for us,” Morhaime stated.
He expressed gratitude for the contributions of the affected staff, who were pivotal in organizing the Dreamhaven Showcase and launching three games. However, the company is facing financial pressure as it has yet to achieve a significant hit despite the high expectations upon its founding.
Currently, games like Sunderfolk and Wildgate are not generating sustainable player counts, raising concerns about Dreamhaven’s future and necessitating cost-cutting measures to ensure its survival.
