Gigabyte Introduces Its RTX 5090 External GPU, Dubbed 'AI Box'

Gigabyte has launched the Aorus RTX 5090 AI Box, promising near-desktop-level graphics performance for laptops.

After years of experience with gaming laptops, the struggles of heat management and performance expectations led to the emergence of Gigabyte’s Aorus RTX 5090 AI Box.

This device operates as a supplement to your existing laptop, enabling extensive graphics processing through a Thunderbolt 5 connection.

While it’s marketed as an ‘AI Box’, it relies on a liquid cooling system to maintain optimal performance, which includes a large copper base and effective water flow systems.

Despite its appealing specs, critics note that the ‘AI Box’ nomenclature may be a marketing strategy more than an innovative leap. Gigabyte has not released its pricing yet, but expectations suggest it could exceed $2,000 based on similar past products.
