Yoshi-P Envisions Crossover Events with Iconic Franchises Like Diablo and Evangelion
Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida expresses a fervent desire for more crossover events with beloved franchises such as Evangelion, Gundam, and especially Diablo, revealing his dream of creating a game inspired by Diablo.
Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida has a strong affinity for the franchise Diablo, having expressed interest in doing crossover events with various iconic franchises, including Evangelion and Gundam. In a recent interview with Techradar, Yoshida reaffirmed his eagerness to merge the worlds of Final Fantasy and Diablo, stating:
“I love Diablo so much that I would want to make a Diablo game myself, and I have huge respect for all the staff working at Blizzard, not only as a gamer but as a developer. So I really would love to achieve some sort of collaboration with them.”
Yoshida also mentioned a love for One Piece and indicated that while crossover events are desirable, they may not happen imminently. Additionally, Yoshida hinted at collaboration opportunities with the Tekken team, reflecting the strong relationships he has cultivated in the gaming industry.
Although there are some tonal differences to navigate—FF14 is rated T and Diablo embraces a darker tone—Yoshida remains optimistic about potential partnerships that could innovate and diversify gaming experiences in the future. As he foresees the possibilities, both fans of Final Fantasy and Diablo are left hopeful about the prospect of these franchises colliding in exciting new ways.
