Mintrocket is actively exploring the future of Dave the Diver. In a recent interview with 4Gamer during the Nexon Developers Conference, CEO Jaeho Hwang discussed their plans for the game’s expansion which may extend beyond downloadable content (DLC).
“Dave the Diver was a title I never thought would be so successful,” Hwang reflected. He believes the franchise’s expansion is essential as it has become the central intellectual property (IP) of the company.
Hwang’s comments suggest a desire to enhance and broaden the Dave the Diver lore, hinting at possible spin-offs and additional character-focused stories. He mentioned:
“I would like to make a different game using this IP.” This could lead to individual games centering on various characters exploring their backgrounds and experiences prior to connecting in the main storyline.
While the imminent In the Jungle DLC is anticipated to introduce new gameplay elements, including a freshwater environment and its corresponding fish, it has been delayed until 2026. Mintrocket is prioritizing this upcoming content, which was postponed due to expanded gameplay features being integrated.
Starting out as a small project, Dave the Diver has rapidly grown, leading to collaborations with well-known franchises such as Godzilla and Yakuza. The development team continues to innovate as they work towards a prosperous future for the game.
