UK Video Games Council Formed with Industry Representatives

The UK government has created a new council for the video game industry to foster growth and innovation. Notable members include executives from Larian Studios and Microsoft.

In an effort to bolster the video game industry’s growth and innovation, the UK government has announced the formation of a UK Video Games Council. This council will work closely with the Minister for Creative Industries, Arts and Tourism, Sir Chris Bryant, and is set to convene twice yearly to provide strategic advice on maximizing the economic, cultural, and educational potential of the games industry.

Among the council’s members are notable figures such as Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion, and Nick Button-Brown, Chair of Outright Games. Other representatives hail from various segments of the industry, highlighting a diverse representation.

With the industry generating over $100 billion annually worldwide, which surpasses the combined revenues of film and music sectors, this new council marks a significant recognition from the government.
