The President of EA Japan, Shaun Noguchi, has publicly criticized Microsoft for their recent significant layoffs, revealing his distress about the situation. He stated that these decisions are driven by a desire for immediate results which ultimately harms creators and projects in the gaming industry.
In a recent post on X, Noguchi expressed, > “In recent years, foreign-affiliated companies have become more inclined to seek short-term results from large-scale investments, and there are many cases where they change direction to meet shareholders’ expectations before enough time has passed. This incident is a result of such a structure.”
He also lamented the cancellation of projects, highlighting the sadness shared by developers and gamers over initiatives that have been long in development but will never see the light of day. He stated, > “…I feel a deep sense of pain from this decision… gamers who were looking forward to it will never even have the chance to experience it.”
The gaming industry continues to face instability, with multiple companies, including EA, having undergone layoffs recently.
