Actor Asks Fans to Rally for the Future of Perfect Dark
The lead actor from the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot urges fans to voice their support in hopes of saving the game from cancellation.
The lead actor of Perfect Dark, Alix Wilton Regan, has made a heartfelt appeal to fans, urging them to express their support for the game as it faces potential cancellation following Microsoft’s announcement. Although it’s uncertain whether this feedback will sway Microsoft’s decision, Regan believes it’s worth a try.
Initially released in 2000, the original Perfect Dark was developed by Rare and is often considered a spiritual successor to GoldenEye 007. The reboot was set to leverage new technology and introduce a fresh storyline, having been initially announced at The Game Awards 2020.
On July 2, 2025, however, Microsoft declared the reboot was scrapped, and development studio The Initiative was slated for closure amid extensive restructuring. In the wake of this announcement, Regan took to Twitter to lament the news, expressing her sorrow for everyone impacted by this decision.
She has since rallied fans to vocalize their desire to see Perfect Dark continue. Despite the excitement from fans, the chances of reversal seem slim, especially considering the game’s development status. There are rumors that the Perfect Dark gameplay trailer from 2024 was potentially fabricated, which only adds complexity to the situation, prompting concerns that the game was behind schedule.
Amid these challenges, Regan encourages fans to “speak up if you want to see Perfect Dark thrive.” In challenging times, history shows that consumer demand can sometimes influence game developments, making her call to action pivotal.
