One of Halo Infinite’s most cherished Forge creation teams - The Forge Falcons - has confirmed they are stepping away from the live-service game due to a lack of support from developer Halo Studios (formerly known as 343 Industries). The Forge Falcons are recognized for delivering some of the most innovative experiences in Halo Infinite’s Forge mode, making their exit a significant loss.
Introduced in 2007’s Halo 3, Forge mode made its way to Halo Infinite in late 2022 and has since become a cornerstone of the first-person shooter’s live-service model. This versatile map-making tool permits players to craft custom maps and game modes, many of which have even been featured in matchmaking and official promotions. As Halo Studios has diminished their focus on new multiplayer maps for Halo Infinite over the past year, it was up to Forge and community creators to fill that gap by supplying players with new content.
Among the Forge creators, the Forge Falcons have developed significant projects like the Inheritor battle royale mode and others inspired by popular games like Call of Duty: Zombies and Helldivers 2. Unfortunately, this team feels underappreciated for their contributions. They revealed they received minimal acknowledgment or support from Halo Studios, prompting their decision to move on from the project.
In a detailed statement shared on Twitter, the Forge Falcons described their interaction with Halo Studios as “one-sided”, indicating a lack of creative involvement, minimal assistance, and no financial compensation — even while their work was heavily promoted during Halo Infinite’s seasonal updates. The team expressed that although they did not anticipate financial remuneration, being used for marketing without even a simple acknowledgment left them discontent. Other notable Forge creators may also exit for similar reasons.
Future plans for the Forge Falcons include pivoting to the Unreal Engine for projects in the live-service behemoth Fortnite, as Epic Games provides a more organized and rewarding environment for creators via its Island Creator Program. As of now, Halo Studios has not commented on the departure of the Forge Falcons, although the community has rallied support for the team, advocating for deserving recognition and compensation for those who maintain the game’s vitality while developers focus on new projects, including a heavily rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved.
