Skyblivion Team Provides Modding Insights to Bethesda

The developers behind the eagerly awaited Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim mod, Skyblivion, share their perspective on modding practices with the game's original maker, Bethesda.

The development team of the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim mod, Skyblivion, has shared insights on the advice they provided to Bethesda regarding modding practices. Skyblivion represents a large-scale project aiming to recreate The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion utilizing the modding tools and engine of Skyrim.

Despite being a prominent developer known for various game genres, Bethesda is particularly recognized for its open-world RPGs. Games like Oblivion and Fallout 4 are praised for not only their expansive worlds and engaging experience but also for the support they offer for user-driven modifications. Bethesda continuously releases tools and guides to assist players in developing new content, allowing titles like Skyrim and Oblivion to maintain popularity, engaging players for years through user-created mods and expansions.

Recently, the Skyblivion team was invited to Bethesda’s headquarters following the launch of Oblivion Remastered, allowing them to engage directly with the developers. The visit, initiated when team lead Rebelzize planned to attend the PAX East convention in Boston, turned into a formal invitation from Bethesda for the entire team to discuss modding tools and techniques for nearly five hours.

Rebelzize noted that the Bethesda team was particularly interested in how the Skyblivion developers utilized the mod tools. A key suggestion from the Skyblivion team was for Bethesda to enhance their support with more detailed video tutorials that help new modders grasp the tools. Rebelzize reminisced about when Bethesda offered video series that guided users through projects such as creating new dungeons, and believed that such support could greatly benefit future games like The Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5, enabling fans to craft high-quality content quickly.
