Hideo Kojima Discusses Ideal Team Size for Game Development
In a recent interview, Hideo Kojima expressed his admiration for the team behind 'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33', favoring smaller group sizes for game development.
Hideo Kojima recently expressed his fondness for the small team behind the popular RPG ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ during an interview in Australia. He praised the developer, Sandfall Interactive, for their efficiency and success as a small team. Kojima highlighted that while his own studio, Kojima Productions, has expanded over the years, he prefers a tighter-knit group for creativity and collaboration.
“They only have like 33 team members and a dog, that’s my ideal when I create something with a team.”
(Translation: He expressed that his ideal team size consists of a small number of individuals for better creativity and a harmonious work environment.)
In the conversation, he noted the challenges of managing bigger groups and how a smaller team can lead to more effective decision-making and innovation. This philosophy aligns with the way he runs his own projects, aiming for a balance between collaboration and individual contributions.
