MindsEye Co-CEO Allegations of a Plot Against Their Game Before Launch

Mark Gerhard claims there's a concerted effort to undermine MindsEye, with allegations of financed negativity ahead of its release.

With just under two weeks until the June 10 launch of MindsEye, the action game developed by Build a Rocket Boy, co-CEO Mark Gerhard has ignited controversy by alleging a systematic effort to tarnish both the game and the studio.

Gerhard asserted on May 27 in response to a user on the game’s Discord that negative commentary is being driven by financial incentives, stating, “100% there are bot farms posting negative comments and dislikes.” He suggested that it does not take much investigation to speculate who might be behind this campaign.

While previews for MindsEye have emerged, they have not been encouraging, with reports citing bugs and lackluster gameplay elements. Some followers speculate that Gerhard might be indirectly pointing at Rockstar Games, where Benzies previously worked.

Gerhard’s allegations, however, remain vague regarding the identity of those supposedly behind this smear campaign, adding further layers to the emerging narrative surrounding the game’s release.
