'More Darts, More Farts': Rust Developers Introduce Fart Darts for Hack Week
Facepunch Studios explores quirky new concepts for Rust during hack week, including a humorous take on a dart.
Every once in awhile, the team at Facepunch, known for the survival game Rust (and also Garry’s Mod), engages in a hack week where they explore playful and eccentric ideas that might not eventually make their way into the game. Recently, one creative developer showcased an amusing concept: fart darts—darts that induce flatulence.
“Fart Dart - Stackable flatulence dart. More darts, more farts. Farts are heard and detected by everyone, revealing your location,” states a playful entry in the commit log from a Rust developer named Adam W.
The fart dart isn’t the only concept being worked on during hack week; there’s also a confusion dart that alters movement controls and swaps jump with crouch, alongside a deafening dart that mutes all sounds for ten seconds. While not every idea from hack week is guaranteed to be included in Rust, it certainly suggests that the game, known for its serious survival mechanics, still revels in a bit of absurdity. After all, stealth seems unlikely when flatulence is at play!
These darts are expected to utilize the blowpipe introduced in the recent Jungle Update of Rust, bringing more unpredictable fun to gameplay.
