Hideo Kojima's Unconventional Game Concepts On Aging and Forgetting

In a podcast, Hideo Kojima shared his innovative but impractical game ideas involving aging and forgetfulness.

In the latest episode of his podcast, KOJI10, Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind Metal Gear and Death Stranding, revealed some groundbreaking yet seemingly impractical game concepts that involve the elements of time and aging.

Kojima expressed himself in a humorous manner about a game where players experience life from birth to old age. “You start as a child, gradually transitioning to adulthood, then old age. At age 70 or 80, you’d become weaker and slower,” he shared. He stated, “But no-one would buy it!”

Another highlight included an idea where characters would become forgetful unless engaged daily, leading to potential challenges like forgetting how to perform basic actions. “Players would have to take a week off work or school to play it,” he joked. This unconventional approach to storytelling certainly reflects Kojima’s unique vision in game design.
