The world’s leading zipper manufacturer, YKK, has introduced a revolutionary remote-controlled, motorized self-propelled zipper, demonstrating its potential at their Hirakata factory in Japan. During a demonstration, the zipper successfully connected two massive 16-foot membrane sheets in mere seconds.
The zippers can zip up significant structures, such as industrial-sized tents, creating a fascinating possibilities for future applications in clothing. As YKK rightly points out, “In the industrial field, opening and closing zippers requires consideration of safety, and the work must be done by skilled workers, which takes time. We believe that the ‘self-propelled zipper’ can be a product that solves these problems for our customers.”
This development may lead to a remarkable future where clothing zippers could be operated at the touch of a button.
