Discord Friends Integration May Soon Be Available in Games

Announcing a new SDK, Discord allows game developers to seamlessly integrate friends lists and chat functionality into their games.

Discord continues to find ways to integrate its services directly into the gaming experience. The newly announced Discord Social SDK is an innovative tool that offers game developers a free method to add social features such as friends lists, voice, and text chat without requiring players to own a Discord account.

Features of the SDK

  • Integrated friends list within games
  • Set up text and voice chat functionalities
  • Invite Discord friends directly to in-game parties

In discussions with PC Gamer, Stanislav Vishnevskiy stated that the inclusion of guild chatrooms across both in-game and Discord platforms could greatly enhance community interactions among players.

Currently, several game developers, including Theorycraft Games and 1047 Games, have already implemented the SDK in their games, elevating the in-game experience for users.

More about the Discord Social SDK can be found on Discord’s Developer Site.
