Metro 2033 Developer Reveals Transformation: New Name and a Sci-Fi Shooter Set in Future Latin America
The studio behind Metro 2033 rebrands as Reburn, announces La Quimera, a new first-person shooter set in a dystopian future.
4A Ukraine, the studio behind Metro: 2033, has undergone a name change to Reburn, signaling the launch of its upcoming title, La Quimera: a dystopian sci-fi first-person shooter set in a fictional Latin American megacity in the latter half of the 21st century.
In a surprising twist reminiscent of Fight Club, the studio revealed that 4A Ukraine and its previously separate 4A Malta studio were distinct entities since the latter split off in 2014. Reburn confirmed that while both studios previously collaborated on Metro Exodus, they now operate independently, with 4A Malta continuing under its original name and brand.
La Quimera, crafted by Reburn, promises high-stakes gameplay with character-driven narratives alongside thrilling combat scenarios. The game’s storyline and world-building are led by the acclaimed filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, known for his works such as Drive and Only God Forgives.
Players can anticipate a mix of action and exploration, as they navigate through co-op play or single-player modes, with a slated release on PC via Steam in the future. The project aims to capture the essence of what fans of the Metro series have come to love, with engaging storytelling and intense gameplay mechanics.
