Asus Phone Camera Source Code Hacked but No Impact on Products or User Privacy

The camera source code for Asus phones has been compromised, but the company assures that it hasn't affected its products or the privacy of users.

Recently, a ransomware group known as Everest claimed to have breached an Asus supplier, obtaining access to the camera source code for Asus smartphones. However, Asus has stated that this incident did not affect their internal systems, products, or user privacy. The company emphasized its commitment to securing its supply chain in accordance with cybersecurity standards.

“An Asus supplier was hacked. This affected some of the camera source code for Asus phones. This incident has not impacted Asus products, internal company systems, or user privacy. Asus continues to strengthen supply chain security in compliance with cybersecurity standards.”
“Un fournisseur Asus a été piraté. Cela a affecté une partie du code source de la caméra des téléphones Asus. Cet incident n’a pas eu d’impact sur les produits Asus, les systèmes internes de l’entreprise ou la vie privée des utilisateurs. Asus continue de renforcer la sécurité de la chaîne d’approvisionnement conformément aux normes de cybersécurité.”

This breach serves as a reminder of the importance of cybersecurity in interconnected supply chains, and reinforces the necessity for companies to remain vigilant in patching potential vulnerabilities as they arise.
