Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto expressed his disappointment regarding EA’s handling of the credits for Battlefield 6, which he claims fails to adequately acknowledge the efforts of the Ridgeline Games team. The game development process for this title involved extensive collaboration among various studios over several years, aiming to revitalize the franchise’s legacy.
Despite achieving impressive sales shortly after its launch—over 7 million copies sold within five days—Lehto pointed out that many of his former colleagues from Ridgeline have not received the credit they deserve. In a post on LinkedIn, he noted that some contributions from the team were only recognized under a section titled Special Thanks, which notably omitted several contributors.
He expressed additional frustration as the closure of Ridgeline Games occurred after he left the studio, during a period of widespread layoffs across EA.
“It was heartbreaking to witness the layoffs, particularly for those who were integral to the Battlefield series,” he stated, emphasizing the value of the developers involved in bringing life to the franchise.
As this development particularly resonates amidst ongoing challenges within the gaming industry, it serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing all contributors in collaborative media projects.
