Xbox Section Removed from Costco Websites

Shoppers are baffled as the Xbox section vanishes from Costco's online platforms in the US and UK, raising questions about potential sales declines.

The Xbox category has seemingly vanished from both the US and UK Costco websites, leaving many customers puzzled as to why they can no longer find the console, its games, and accessories in search results. Recently, despite Xbox reporting impressive earnings primarily due to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, a drop in console sales may have led to this unexpected action by the retailer.

Xbox

As discussed by ResetEra user kubev (and reported by TheGamer), the absence of Xbox products on both Costco websites was notably immediate, while search results for PlayStation and Nintendo products remain unaffected. Some speculate this could merely be a temporary glitch, while others fear that dwindling console sales alongside a recent price increase might have encouraged Costco to reconsider its stock of Microsoft’s gaming merchandise.

Xbox’s Position in the Market

The latest console cycle has presented challenges for Xbox; the Series X has failed to match the overwhelming success of the PlayStation 5, with hardware revenues having dipped approximately 22% compared to the previous year as of July 2025. Despite this, the Xbox Game Pass service achieved a new revenue milestone, amassing around $5 billion since its launch in 2017, although the trend of declining physical game sales suggests further cutbacks by retail stores may be on the horizon.

Future Anticipations

Hoping to address these market shifts, an unnamed Xbox title is set to be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show on September 27. Many are questioning why this anticipated title is launching outside the anticipated Xbox Showcase on September 25.
