Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 4 has been delayed for Nintendo Switch 2. The game, originally set to launch on October 3, now lacks a new release date.
The postponement follows concerns about the game’s technical performance, even on high-end PCs, leading many to wonder how it would perform on the Switch 2. In a statement on X, Gearbox noted:
“We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that.”
Moreover, the cancellation of digital pre-orders will automatically occur starting September 26, and players who pre-ordered a physical copy will need to contact their retailer for adjustments.
Gearbox aims to better align the game’s release with the addition of cross-saves, which was previously absent at launch for other platforms. However, no new date has been provided as of now. The studio has promised to update everyone once their plans are finalized.
