The newly launched Borderlands 4 is rapidly closing in on three million copies sold, merely two weeks post-release on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. This fourth installment in the famed looter shooter franchise invites players to explore the expansive and new open world of Kairos, a first in the series.
Prominent Success Borderlands 4 has already witnessed tremendous player engagement, surpassing 300,000 concurrent users on Steam just two days after its debut, setting a new record for the franchise. Critics have responded positively, with the game earning an 83 rating on Metacritic, outperforming its predecessor, Borderlands 3.
Sales Data Overview
Right after its launch, Borderlands 4 has recorded impressive sales, crossing the 2.5 million copies mark, translating to an estimated $150 million in revenue for 2K Games. Notably, 1.3 million copies were sold on Steam alone, even amidst initial performance challenges that have been mostly resolved by a recent developer patch.
Though the sales figures are commendable, they still fall short when compared to Borderlands 3, which sold over five million copies in its first five days. Nevertheless, the latest installment seems set to achieve further milestones with its impending launch on Nintendo’s Switch 2 on October 3.
