New Free-to-Play FPS on Steam Faces Challenges with Player Reviews
The newly launched free-to-play first-person shooter, World War Legion, on Steam is facing considerable criticism despite its recent release.
Steam users have a new option in the form of the free-to-play FPS World War Legion, which debuted with ‘Mostly Negative’ reviews from players. This military-themed game, created by Alfa Bravo Inc, launched on Steam on September 2.
According to its Steam description, World War Legion takes inspiration from World War II but lacks strict historical accuracy, especially regarding certain weapons and equipment. This online multiplayer game is designed for low-spec systems. Alfa Bravo Inc, the American studio behind it, also developed the FPS Combat Master, released in 2023.
Challenges with Steam Reviews
Despite being a free-to-play release, World War Legion is struggling to win over players, as evidenced by a disheartening 34% positive rating among a total of 426 reviews. Some feedback suggests that the game is too reminiscent of Combat Master, with users claiming it could have served as a DLC for that title instead. One user noted, “It is a decent game but just a cut and paste of CM is all…”
Despite the poor reception, it’s noted that those who haven’t experienced the previous title might still find enjoyment in World War Legion. Notably, the popularity of Combat Master, which holds a ‘Very Positive’ rating, could mean some players might appreciate the new game as well.
In related news, players can access another free Steam game, the 2017 puzzle title Puzzle Chambers, albeit for a limited time, making it essential for those interested to act quickly.
