Steam Will End Support for Windows 10 32-Bit Due to Minimal Usage
Steam is discontinuing support for the 32-bit version of Windows 10, as it's found that only 0.01% of users still utilize this operating system.
Valve has announced that support for Windows 10 32-bit versions on Steam will cease at the beginning of January 2026. This decision comes as only 0.01% of Steam’s user base is currently using this version of the operating system. According to a blog post from Valve, “As of January 1 2026, Steam will stop supporting systems running 32-bit versions of Windows. Windows 10 32-bit is the only 32-bit version that is currently supported by Steam and is only in use on 0.01% of systems reported through the Steam Hardware Survey. Windows 10 64-bit will still be supported, and 32-bit games will continue to run.”
Players still utilizing the 32-bit version will need to upgrade their systems to ensure continued support and compatibility with future updates. Valve has maintained support for this version longer than many, as Microsoft had announced the end of 32-bit support back in 2020, and continual prompts for users to upgrade have been common.
For Steam users still on Windows 10 32-bit, the client may continue functioning for the immediate future but will not receive any further updates.
