Fortnite Will Soon Allow Creators to Profit from Item Sales on Their Islands

Epic Games is introducing a feature that enables Fortnite creators to earn from selling items directly from their islands, taking a jab at Roblox in the process.

Epic Games is gearing up to let creators of Fortnite earn income directly from their sales on islands, and it’s aiming to cut into Roblox’s territory. Starting in December 2025, creators can profit from item sales on their custom islands, initially earning 100% of the sales value until the end of 2026. After that, they will receive 50%. This contrasts with Roblox, where developers earn significantly less from item sales.

Fortnite has previously allowed creators to monetize engagement but now expands this to direct item sales, which could give it an edge over competitors like Roblox. As Epic points out, its creators may earn 12% more than those on Roblox from item sales. With this move, Fortnite is embracing a competitive stance in the user-generated content (UGC) market.
