The Like a Dragon series began its journey with the Yakuza game in 2005, followed by a range of sequels and spin-offs. One notable entry was Yakuza 3, launched exclusively on PlayStation 3 in 2009. The first two entries in the series saw complete remakes in Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, while Yakuza 3 only received a remastered version, making it accessible on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

This week, players discovered a reference to Yakuza Kiwami 3 on RGG Studio’s official website, as noted by Push Square. Initially listed in the Categories section, it has since been removed, but gamers captured screenshots shared widely on social media. There’s been no response yet from either Sega or RGG Studio concerning the leak.
Last year, Masayoshi Yokoyama, the series director for Like a Dragon, hinted at the possibility of remaking Yakuza 3, mentioning that the team was considering it and that it might happen “sooner or later.”
Earlier this month, Sega disclosed part of its lineup for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, scheduled for September 25-28. They announced games like Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and teased some surprises, one of which might be Yakuza 3 Kiwami. Sega will also host its annual Ryu Ga Gotoku Summit livestream soon, which previously unveiled projects like Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii planned for 2024.
There’s speculation that Yakuza 3 Kiwami could be announced during the next State of Play event, with credible rumors suggesting that Sony is planning one for September. Previous reveals, such as Like a Dragon Isshin, occurred during similar showcases, adding weight to this expectation. With these hints, Yakuza 3 Kiwami could be officially announced next week, though it’s wise for fans to manage their expectations until more details surface.
