After revealing more details yesterday, Sony has rolled out a new PlayStation 5 system update, introducing a new Power Saver mode and the ability to pair DualSense controllers across multiple devices simultaneously. The latter has been on many PlayStation 5 fans’ wishlists for a while now, and with this new patch, it is easier than ever to seamlessly switch between PC, console, and mobile devices.
New PS5 System Update Adds Power Saver Mode and DualSense Pairing Across Multiple Devices
Today, September 17, the new PlayStation 5 system update for September 2025, codenamed 25.06-12.00.00, is currently rolling out for all users. Coming in at 1.3 GB, the useful update, detailed on the official PlayStation Blog, allows users to connect their DualSense wireless controllers to multiple devices without needing to pair them each time, a feature that many have been asking for since the console’s launch. Up to four devices can be registered simultaneously on the same controller, making it much easier to switch between console, PC, and mobile devices. Additionally, the update adds a new Power Saver mode. When this is active, supported PS5 games will scale back performance in order to reduce the console’s power consumption.
The last few months of 2025 promise to bring a number of heavy hitters to the PlayStation 5, with Dying Light: The Beast, Silent Hill f, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and EA Sports FC 26 rounding out September’s lineup. October will be no less busy, with Ghost of Yotei’s highly anticipated October 2 release only weeks away, and Battlefield 6 coming shortly after. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will also be coming to the PS5 in mid-November, and for the holiday season, Sony fans can look forward to Octopath Traveler 0, Code Violet, and Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection throughout December.
Curiously, recent reports have surfaced stating that a new version of the PS5 Digital Edition with less storage space has begun to go on sale in Europe. While the standard console includes 1 TB of storage, the PS5 Digital E Chassis (CFI-2216) only includes 825 GB. While Sony has not provided a reason for this model’s launch, many believe that it may help the company avoid another price increase.
Later this month, Sony will have a huge presence at Tokyo Game Show, teasing more in-depth looks at Ghost of Yotei, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Astro Bot, and more. With its launch just over two weeks away, fans are eager to get their hands on Ghost of Yotei, with the Ghost of Tsushima sequel topping the pre-order charts immediately after sales went live in May.
