Changes in Fortnite's Storm Mechanics Make It Deadlier

Fortnite has adjusted its Storm dynamics, impacting damage and speed, which may reshape gameplay experience.

Fortnite has increased the damage and speed of the Storm in its Battle Royale mode, a classic format where players battle against up to 99 opponents on an island. As players vie for the Victory Royale, a dangerous Storm closes in, pushing them into increasingly confined areas.

As the match progresses, the number of Storm phases can reach up to 12, although significant eliminations often happen before the final phase. Many players perceive the early Storms as harmless, due to their minimal coverage and negligible damage.

Major Tweaks to Storm Mechanics

Recent adjustments made by Epic Games include a reduction in the wait time for the next Storm Circle (by 14 to 22%, depending on the phase) and a quicker shrunken Storm area, which inflicts double the damage previously. These changes are not applicable to Ranked modes or tournaments and might be linked to Community Quests alongside the introduction of the Lord Zedd skin from Power Rangers.

The launch of these updates hints that the Megazord might confront Lord Zedd to restore the island and the Storm to their original state. However, if player feedback is favorable, these changes could remain permanent.
