As I navigate the first act of Silksong, I’ve relied heavily on the Thread Storm, an area-of-effect (AOE) ability that can be obtained early in the game. However, I recently realized that I haven’t been maximizing its potential.
Thanks to a helpful PSA video by Jason Mondal, I learned that instead of just pressing the right bumper on a controller to activate Thread Storm, I can repeatedly tap the button to extend its duration without consuming additional silk. This can significantly boost my damage output when used strategically. However, using it for longer increases vulnerability to counterattacks.
My favorite way to deploy Thread Storm is diagonally to the side of an enemy, allowing me to engage without running into harm’s way. If I’m up against enemies that can be staggered, the extra damage output from prolonged use is highly beneficial, especially during challenging wave encounters.
Where to Acquire Thread Storm
To obtain Thread Storm, head to the Greymoor area during the second half of Act One. Instead of moving west toward Bellhart, go east past Shakra’s map shop until you reach a dead end with a building entrance. There, you’ll face a tough wave fight, but after succeeding, you’ll unlock access to a platforming section that leads to the shrine containing Thread Storm.
