Silksong Achieves Over 3.2 Million Sales on Steam Within Two Weeks

The latest title from Team Cherry, Hollow Knight: Silksong, has reportedly sold over 3.2 million copies in just two weeks post-launch.

In September, Silksong rapidly made waves in the gaming community, quickly garnering attention by outperforming competitors in the release schedule and setting records for player counts on Steam.

According to GameDiscoverCo, *based on available data*, it is estimated that Silksong has sold over 3.2 million copies on Steam within a fortnight of its launch. Additionally, it was downloaded around 1.5 million times via Xbox Game Pass, though the distribution between console and PC remains unclear.

Silksong’s phenomenal success stands out, especially considering it comes from a smaller indie development team within a genre that typically has a niche audience but not necessarily mass appeal. The hype that built over six years played a significant role in the game’s monumental launch day interest.

Interestingly, nearly 79% of those who bought Silksong also played the original Hollow Knight, illustrating the loyalty of its fanbase. Hollow Knight, which has sold over 11.4 million copies on Steam, is thus paving the way for its sequel’s success.

As the dust settles, industry observers stress that Silksong should be viewed as a product of a dedicated fanbase rather than a typical new game launch, setting it apart in terms of performance and sales.
