Super Mario Galaxy Collection Marks High Price for Fans

The recently announced "Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2" compilation comes with a hefty price tag, set to retail at $70.

The new compilation titled Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is set to have a retail price akin to new game releases, at $70. During September 2025’s Nintendo Direct, many exciting details for Super Mario enthusiasts were revealed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved franchise. Along with the announcement of a new Super Mario Galaxy movie, Nintendo unveiled several upcoming titles, including Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Mario Tennis Fever.

However, the spotlight was on the announcement that will reintroduce some classic games loved by fans. The Super Mario Galaxy games are planned to receive a fresh re-release as part of the franchise’s anniversary celebrations, available as a compilation and as separate digital titles. Previously featured only in the limited Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Galaxy 2 will make its debut outside the Wii system. Reports indicate that fans will be paying more for these cherished Mario adventures.

According to reports from VGC, the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 compilation will be priced similarly to brand new releases on the Switch 2, and each game will be available for individual digital purchase at $40.

High Price for the Compilation

The pricing for Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 aligns with several enhancements coming with the new editions. Nintendo’s Direct livestream trailer hinted at the addition of new Storybook content, along with the release of a physical Rosalina’s storybook. Fans of Super Mario Galaxy will also be able to adjust game controls between original motion controls and a traditional button-and-stick configuration.

Fans of Super Mario have much to look forward to, as there are several announcements that broaden the gaming experiences, including the Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, set to feature multiplayer-focused content through its new expansion. Additionally, Nintendo plans to incorporate Virtual Boy games into the Nintendo Switch Online service, much to the excitement of fans.
