The official specifications were made known in recent announcements.

In Octopath Traveler 0, players will have the opportunity to build towns with varied limits based on the platform capabilities. For instance, while PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 can accommodate towns of up to 500 buildings, the Nintendo Switch 2 and PS4 will be capped at 400 buildings. In contrast, the original Nintendo Switch will allow only 250 buildings, along with a frame rate limit of 30 FPS, whereas the other platforms can achieve up to 120 FPS.

This sequel to the acclaimed Octopath Traveler series is set to release on December 4, 2025, and is expected to feature over 30 recruitable characters, allowing players to form parties of up to eight characters. The story revolves around a custom protagonist from Wishvale, a town that faced destruction from a fire, and players will have the chance to restore their town as the narrative unfolds.

For further details and demonstrations, the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2025, taking place from September 25 to 28, will feature Octopath Traveler 0 along with other titles from Square Enix.
