A Hero Merges Morrowind into Elden Ring, Provoking Bethesda's Lawyers

An ambitious modder successfully ports the entire Morrowind world into Elden Ring, catching the attention of Bethesda's legal team.

Great news, guys: video games are done. They’re over. Someone has created the definitively best game ever made, so there’s no use creating any more. Pack it up. Everyone head home.

A courageous modder named InfernoPlus has merged two great worlds together: transporting the entirety of Morrowind’s map into Elden Ring to create a remarkable fusion.

It combines Morrowind’s rich world-building and lore with Elden Ring’s more convenient combat system. InfernoPlus stated, “Morrowind is one of my favorite games of all time, but its gameplay is outdated. My goal is to combine the world and lore of Morrowind with the combat of a Souls game.”

InfernoPlus originally tried to cram Morrowind’s landmass into Dark Souls 1 but found the engine was too old to handle it. They then tried Dark Souls 3, which just barely fit, but ultimately opted for Elden Ring due to its modern modding tools and overall better gameplay experience.

The project is still in development and lacks complete enemy navigation. Currently, many NPCs just run around without full AI, but the effort so far is undeniably impressive.

InfernoPlus expressed confidence that their project wouldn’t violate any copyrights, inviting Bethesda’s lawyers to refrain from sending a cease-and-desist letter. They stated, “You can go ahead and stop writing that very threatening email, because this project does not violate any copyright whatsoever.”
