On August 31, No Man’s Sky hit a peak of over 93,000 active users on Steam—its highest since 2018—following the recent Voyagers content update launched on August 27. This update introduced customizable Corvette ships for players.
The player count surge is a notable recovery since the game’s troubled launch in 2016, which saw many technical issues coupled with a largely empty universe. Rather than abandoning the game, developer Hello Games has released numerous updates and fixes over the years, which contributed to this recent spike in engagement.
In fact, the current player count has increased significantly since the Voyagers update, a clear sign of renewed interest. As of now, the 24-hour peak of players for No Man’s Sky stands at 93,332. This peak marks the third highest since the game’s release, trailing only its launch count of 212,604 and a record from 2018 following the NEXT update.
While the player count had been averaging between 5,000 and 10,000 before the Voyagers update, Hello Games is actively working to enhance the gameplay experience further. An Experimental content update is in the works to address concerns with the newly introduced Corvette ship system, allowing players to provide feedback ahead of its broader rollout.
Indeed, the continued influx of players showcases No Man’s Sky as a prominent example of how a game can grow and evolve effectively post-launch.
