RPG Franchise Casts Off Monetization Constructs to Focus on Gameplay Experience

The developers of an upcoming RPG, Duet Night Abyss, have decided to eliminate gacha mechanics and stamina systems before the game's launch.

In a bold move, the developers of Duet Night Abyss, an upcoming action RPG, have chosen to remove all gacha mechanics and stamina systems just before its release in late October.

The producer, Deca Bear, stated: > “For the launch version, we’ve scrapped both the character and weapon gacha, and even removed the stamina system. All characters will be free to obtain, and new characters will, in principle, be permanent.”

This decision appears rooted in feedback from players, who expressed a clear dissatisfaction with previous monetization strategies. The developers are shifting focus to prioritize enjoyment over financial exploitation.

Bear also mentioned, > “After analyzing player data, community feedback, and in-game survey results from the last beta, we realized the complaints were fairly consistent. We debated the issue many times internally and concluded that, no matter how much we optimized the gacha and stamina systems, it wouldn’t be enough to address the fundamental dissatisfaction players felt.”

The game is set to release on both PC and mobile platforms on October 28. This rethinking of monetization strategy aligns with a growing trend in the gaming industry aimed at fostering a healthier player experience without excessive financial encumbrances.
