EA's CEO Hints at Future for Apex Legends Amidst Financial Challenges

During a recent financial call, EA's CEO Andrew Wilson hinted at plans for a significant update for Apex Legends, following disappointing sales results.

Apex Legends in Focus

During EA’s latest financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson discussed the underperforming sales of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the disappointing net bookings for Apex Legends. Despite this, he expressed optimism about the future of the franchise, stating that it is essential to the company’s long-term strategy.

“Our expectation is that Apex will also be one of those franchises, and that some time on the horizon, there will be an even bigger, more meaningful update to that broader game experience—an Apex 2.0 if you will. This will not be the final incarnation of Apex.”

Wilson mentioned that although there are no immediate plans for an Apex 2.0 rollout, it is in development and should not be expected until after the release of the next Battlefield game, forecasted to come before April 2026. This reflects EA’s strategy to develop franchises aimed for longevity, citing the importance of adapting to player demands for shared-world features alongside compelling narratives.

In conclusion, while current results are disappointing, EA’s leadership remains committed to evolving Apex Legends into a more formidable franchise in the future.
