NASA to Launch Its First Twitch Stream from Space

NASA is preparing to host its inaugural Twitch stream from the International Space Station, allowing viewers to interact with astronauts and learn about life in space.

NASA is set to make history by streaming live from space for the first time ever. Set to happen next Wednesday, February 12, the livestream will be conducted aboard the International Space Station (ISS), approximately 250 miles above the Earth.

The event will be shown on NASA’s Twitch channel, featuring astronauts Don Pettit and Matt Dominick. Viewers will have the unique chance to ask them questions via Twitch chat.

NASA aims to provide insights into daily life aboard the space station during the stream, which starts at 8:45 AM PT / 11:45 AM ET / 4:45 PM GMT on February 12.

Brittany Brown, NASA’s communications director, has labeled this initiative as “the first of many” Twitch streams planned from space. The concept aims to increase engagement with the public and enhance NASA’s presence on social media platforms.

This ambitious announcement may overshadow streamer IShowSpeed, who had expressed earlier aspirations to stream live from space, proclaiming, “I want to stream in space one day…once I talk to Elon Musk, it’s happening.”

While it remains to be seen how the Twitch chat will fare during the livestream, excitement is building for a unique view into life aboard NASA’s ISS and beyond.
