EA and Full Circle had previously hinted at a summer 2025 release window for Skate, but now they have locked in an exact date. The game will be available in early access on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA app.

At launch, Skate will be free-to-play and will support cross-platform compatibility, allowing players to connect with friends on different systems. The game will also enable cross-progression, making it possible for players to access their accounts across multiple platforms. Skate will use a seasonal content model, delivering fresh content, limited-time events, and exclusive cosmetics on a regular schedule.

Described as a continually evolving online skateboarding sandbox, Skate will take place in the vast city of San Vansterdam, which is designed to be a large, multiplayer open-world environment tailored for skaters. The game will utilize the Frostbite Engine for physics and reintroduce the classic “Flick-it” control system alongside new tricks to enrich the gameplay experience.

There is immense excitement surrounding Skate, particularly among fans who have awaited a new installment for over 15 years. Recently, it was reported that over a million players signed up for the closed playtests, setting an internal record for EA and demonstrating the strong demand for this long-anticipated addition to the franchise. All that remains for EA is to ensure a successful launch.
