EA Releases Update on Save File Issues in The Sims 4

EA addresses ongoing problems with save file corruption affecting players of The Sims 4, especially concerning the For Rent expansion.

Save file corruption in The Sims 4 is still a significant concern for players, possibly locking them out of worlds they’ve created for years. EA is committed to resolving these issues. The problems primarily revolve around the For Rent expansion, released over a year ago. However, a recent update seems to have introduced new complications.

The For Rent expansion allows players to manage apartments and cooperative living experiences, addressing various aspects like community meals and challenges like exposure to mold.

EA’s recent report indicates that 29 known issues have been resolved concerning the For Rent expansion, but 37 remain, with 26 under investigation. Community input is pivotal for addressing the last 11 issues. Corruption has proven to be the most pressing problem, causing entire lots to vanish when many rental units coexist in a world. Players have also experienced endless white screens while loading the game on PlayStation. Maxis is working on fixing these problems but is awaiting player feedback to ensure lasting solutions.

Additionally, reports of new save file problems have surfaced following the August 19 update, specifically concerning lots that refuse to load or have missing items. These instances often involve lots downloaded from the Gallery, often accompanied by crashes or persistent loading screens. EA stresses that caution is advised while using mods or custom content, as these can exacerbate gameplay issues.
