Blizzard’s recent unveiling of Wuyang, a new character for Overwatch 2 Season 18, might hint at the introduction of an additional hero. This time, it’s Anran, Wuyang’s sister, who has been given intriguing abilities and resources that position her as an ideal candidate for future gameplay.
Wuyang Reveal
During the recent Overwatch 2 Spotlight event, the aquatic hero was initially known by the codename Aqua before his official reveal on August 14. Following his introduction, Blizzard provided ample insight into Wuyang’s abilities and gameplay style.
Anran’s Fire-Bending Skills
The reveal also set the stage for other characters in the game. In anticipation of Overwatch 2’s upcoming Season 18, Blizzard premiered a special trailer for Wuyang titled Elemental Kin, showcasing a dynamic clash between Wuyang and his fire-wielding sister, Anran. Anran is portrayed as the antithesis to her water-based brother, utilizing fire in her combat style and brandishing twin fans during battles. Players are excitedly speculating whether she may eventually join the Overwatch roster.
Anran has already made appearances in earlier narratives, such as the lore comic Against the Tide, which introduces the Wuxing University—a martial arts institution focusing on five elements: Fire, Water, Metal, Wood, and Earth, underlining Anran’s affiliation with the fire college.
While no formal announcement has confirmed Anran’s inclusion in Overwatch 2, Blizzard has hinted at their interest in expanding the hero roster with fire elements. Therefore, Anran’s fate remains uncertain, but she is currently teaming up with D.Va’s MEKA Squad and others in the game’s pre-release landscape.
Anran Cinematic Invitation
In summary, while players eagerly await Wuyang’s debut on August 26, the speculation surrounding Anran continues to stir curiosity among fans—could she be the next face of Overwatch 2? More teasers and revelations about Hero 45 have yet to come, expected as we approach Season 20 this December.
