A Battlefield 6 Enthusiast Analyzes the Effects of Color Filters on Game Maps

A fan critiques how color correction impacts player experience in Battlefield 6's maps, suggesting potential improvements for launch.

One Battlefield 6 enthusiast with a keen artistic eye has critiqued the color correction methods implemented in the four maps currently accessible to players and how these choices might influence gameplay experiences across different environments. The Battlefield series has a historical precedent of manipulating color balance to align with each game’s theme, and Battlefield 6 follows this trend.

Early players have participated in open beta weekends in August prior to the game’s upcoming release on October 10, investing over 92 million hours of play during this limited access. While players revel in the game’s destruction mechanics and diverse modes, one player’s focus on the color correction in the visuals suggests areas of potential enhancement. On the YouTube channel Vic’s Corner, critiques of the Battlefield 6 maps from the beta revealed that the harsh color grading seen in earlier titles appears to have returned.

While the player’s observations dissect the maps one at a time, the analysis emphasizes that the high contrast in Liberation Peak causes darker areas to become muddled, which blends graphical elements too closely. Similarly, the warm hues of Siege of Cairo suit its sunny Egyptian backdrop, yet removing the color filter could enhance vibrancy in characters and surroundings akin to the aesthetic of Battlefield 1.

If community feedback is vocal enough, developers may consider altering the game’s visuals before the launch, as they already announced some modifications based on beta tester feedback.
