In under a month, Silksanity will come to an end with the release of Silksong on September 4. Despite a long silence from Team Cherry, co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen shared insights with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier about why they remained quiet during development.
“At the time we thought we’d go quiet for a year or two, then the game would come out.”
Their explanation reveals they got distracted by creating bugs and enjoyed the process more than they anticipated, resulting in an extended development timeline. Both highlighted their enjoyment of the development journey, stating:
“We could have kept going.”
Instead of constant updates, they felt it was better to focus on making the game enjoyable. Gibson mentioned:
“We felt like continued updates were just going to sour people on the whole thing.”
With a rich community surrounding the game, the lack of updates seemed to have been good for anticipation. Moving forward, both co-founders indicated their plans for the future while acknowledging they are wary of engaging with social media dynamics that could disrupt their creative flow.
