In August 2024, leaks about a potential remaster of Mortal Kombat Trilogy began circulating, heightened by sightings of logos for these games at Gamescom events. The developer, Digital Eclipse, officially presented the Legacy Kollection during the June 2025 Sony showcase.
Atari, the publisher of this collection, released a new trailer during Gamescom 2025 confirming the inclusion of Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: Special Forces. This aligns with a recent leak as footage from the trailer confirms insights that were previously hinted at.
Fans can expect Legacy Kollection to feature more than 20 classic Mortal Kombat games, along with enhancements like a Fatality Trainer for practicing iconic finishing moves and online multiplayer options to compete with others. Furthermore, nostalgic elements such as CRT filters and a dedicated music library will be incorporated to enhance the gameplay experience.
However, the trailer did not disclose an exact release date, although previous speculations indicated it may launch on September 29. Pre-orders for both physical and digital editions are available across all platforms.
