Team Cherry has recently shared additional details for fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong, specifically regarding what to expect after the game’s launch. Following a long silence and several delays, the recent Gamescom event proved to be a goldmine of information for fans excited about the game.
The highly anticipated release date has been set for September 4, 2025, which was announced along with a new trailer showcasing gameplay. More importantly, an interview revealed plans for downloadable content.
DLC Plans Confirmed
In a twist of fate, considering that Silksong originated as an extension of the original game, the developers at Team Cherry have ambitions for future content that will be released after the game launches. In an interview with Bloomberg, co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen expressed their intent for long-term support, indicating that there will be extensive content developed in the months and possibly years following the launch. The studio is reportedly working on some thrilling and ambitious ideas.
Gibson noted, ‘I remember at some point I just had to stop sketching, because I went, ‘Everything I’m drawing here has to end up in the game. That’s a cool idea, that’s in. If I don’t stop drawing, this is going to take 15 years to finish.’
While specifics about the DLC details remain limited, it’s clear that whatever content is not ready for launch will likely be incorporated into future expansions, promising existing fans plenty to look forward to after the initial release.
