IllFonic Unveils New Halloween Game Set for 2026 Release
American developer IllFonic announces a new installment of the Halloween franchise aimed for a 2026 launch across multiple gaming platforms.
A new Halloween game is being developed at IllFonic, a studio known for its expertise in asymmetric multiplayer games. Announced during the recent Gamescom event, this Halloween project aims for a 2026 launch across various platforms.

For decades, John Carpenter’s Halloween franchise has made its rounds in various popular games like Dead by Daylight and Fortnite. However, dedicated standalone titles have been rare. After the first Halloween game hit the Atari 2600 in 1983, it took over 35 years for another standalone entry to surface, which was in October 2024 with RetroRealms: Halloween, launched as DLC for the RetroRealms platform.
Halloween: The Game Revealed at Gamescom 2025
The long-awaited project has recently been unveiled, not by Boss Team, but by Colorado-based IllFonic, continuing the tradition of creating asymmetric multiplayer games inspired by popular films. Still branding the game as Halloween: The Game, the developers presented a teaser trailer at Gamescom 2025. Although it appears to be done in-game engine, the video focuses more on the atmosphere and sets the stage for introducing the iconic character Michael Myers, the enduring antagonist from the slasher film series.
The gameplay will be a stealth horror experience where one player can embody Michael Myers while others will assume the role of residents of Haddonfield trying to survive and alert the authorities.
IllFonic is collaborating with Compass International Pictures and Further Front to accurately represent elements from the original 1978 film, from recognizable locations to a soundtrack directly influenced by the original score. Designed mainly for multiplayer, the game will also offer a Story Mode featuring AI bots to support solo play.
The new Halloween game is set for release in 2026 and has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms (Steam and EGS). This marks IllFonic’s fifth game in six years, following titles like Predator: Hunting Grounds, Arcadegeddon, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game.
