Backlash Over Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Trailer May Drive Fans to Battlefield 6

The latest Call of Duty trailer faces intense criticism, potentially swaying players towards Battlefield 6, which is generating significant excitement.

Activision recently unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 during the Gamescom Opening Night Live, yet the new trailer has sparked disappointment among fans, driving many to consider pre-ordering Battlefield 6. As both franchises prepare to clash after four years, anticipation is building around Call of Duty’s ability to maintain its lead against EA’s promising Battlefield 6.

The pivotal moment will arrive later this year when Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are both released. So far, Battlefield 6 is showing strong momentum with its open beta setting records. According to EA, this beta has recorded the largest number of concurrent players in the franchise’s history, peaking at over 521,000 players on Steam, eclipsing even the highest number ever recorded for Call of Duty on that platform three years prior.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Trailer Engenders Popularity for Battlefield 6

After an incredible reveal trailer in June, Activision presented Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to the audience on August 19. Unfortunately, the response has been overwhelmingly negative, with a notable comment garnering almost 40,000 likes stating, “This actually made me pre-order Battlefield 6.” Users are echoing this sentiment, claiming the trailer serves as the “best advertisement for Battlefield 6” and one expressing gratitude for simplifying their choice towards Battlefield 6.

While platforms like YouTube do not show dislike counts, extensions indicate the trailer might have garnered nearly 100,000 dislikes at the time of writing. As players continue to voice their inclination toward Battlefield 6, the dislike count escalates accordingly. The futuristic elements of the trailer have drawn skepticism, particularly at a time when fans have been requesting a return to the series’ more realistic and grounded gameplay roots.
